Abstract

Ancient Greek mythology is a collection of myths created by the ancient Greeks (Hellenes), which developed on the basis of the Cretan-Mycenaean substratum and the Indo-European mythopoetic heritage. It took on a systematic form in the 1st millennium BCE, incorporating the religious beliefs, worldviews, and cultural and historical experiences of the Greek world during the Archaic, Classical, and Hellenistic periods.
