The publication analyzes the profound crisis of U.S. international leadership at the beginning of 2026 through the prism of how its policies are perceived by key strategic partners and allies. Based on sociological data from authoritative centers (Pew Research Center, Gallup, POLITICO European Pulse), a sharp rise in anti-American sentiment and an unprecedented erosion of trust in Washington are documented. The study examines how the isolationist course of Donald Trump’s second administration, tariff confrontations, aggressive rhetoric toward Canada and Greenland, the conflict with Iran, and skepticism regarding NATO commitments have transformed the U.S. image from a security guarantor into a source of regional unpredictability and threat. A unique geopolitical paradox is revealed, wherein Beijing has surpassed Washington in global approval ratings for the first time in 20 years, and key European nations alongside Canada have reached parity in their assessments of the U.S. and China. The author concludes that an immediate reappraisal of U.S. strategy is crucial to prevent a total loss of legitimacy amidst the ongoing transition to a multipolar world.
