Abstract
The work explores the image of the main character of works about Tristan and Isolde in an anthropological dimension. The purpose of the study is to determine the ambiguity of Isolde Goldilocks' character and behavior, which leads to a conflict between homo naturalis and homo socialis and has tragic consequences. The research material is literary works of the 12th century and the reconstruction by J. Bedier, as well as works of art - R. Wagner's opera "Tristan and Isolde" and B. Viola's video art "Isolde's Ascension", which represent a different "reading" of the heroine's image from a folklore and mythological perspective.
