Abstract

The article provides a theoretical substantiation and presents the author’s model of the psychological resources underlying individual tolerance of uncertainty. A critical reconsideration of these phenomena was conducted, which made it possible not only to refine the conceptual framework, but also to identify the key substantive components of the proposed theoretical model. The understanding of individual tolerance of uncertainty has been expanded. In the author’s interpretation, tolerance of uncertainty is viewed not as a static trait or merely a patient attitude toward uncertainty, but as an active cognitive-emotional strategy aimed at overcoming fear of uncertain situations and transforming them into a space for the realization of new opportunities. The resources underlying individual tolerance of uncertainty are conceptualized as a dynamic system of internal and external supports that ensure psychological balance and personal effectiveness in situations of uncertainty. The following key components of the resource model of tolerance of uncertainty have been substantiated and identified: 1) internal instrumental resources (cognitive and emotional flexibility), which perform the functions of self-regulation and adaptation to a changing context; 2) identity-value resource, which facilitates the preservation of personal integrity in situations of uncertainty and the transformation of an uncertain situation into a space for personal growth; 3) internal trust resource, which combines self-trust (ensuring autonomous resilience and decision-making capacity) with trust in others. The latter is integrated into the block of external resources of social and informational support, minimizing the destructive impact of uncertainty. The features of interaction between the components of the resource model of individual tolerance of uncertainty are theoretically substantiated.
