Abstract
The paper deals with the image of Cossack Ukraine in Taras Shevchenko's poetry. The author analyzes the historical sources used by the poet, and the facts of everyday life typical of his time. Chief attention is paid to the works that touch upon the most vivid events and phenomena of the Cossack era.
