Abstract

The article outlines primary features of the lingual portrait of the British prime-minister David Cameron's personality. His political activity is aimed at improving the well-being of Great Britain, increasing its economic potential, strengthening the Conservative Party etc. These aspects of his activity are reflected in both cognitive and verbal systemic planes, the latter being represented by specific speech strategies namely the contrast, repetition, generalization etc. Within the framework of the cognitive-discoursive paradigm of linguistics the main trends in treating the notion of “lingual portrait” are defined.
