Abstract
The article deals with the Ivan Franko’s mainds on the The article deals with the Ivan Franko’s mainds on the invention of script, a special Cyrillic, on formation and development of Old Ukrainain literary language and on the usage of traditional Cyrillic script for the phonetic spoken influence into the language of literature. Special attention was given to opinions of scholar on Cyrillic script and its adaptation to Old Ukrainian sound-system through numerous changes in spelling and on the foundation of the phonetic spelling of future Ukrainian orthography.
