Abstract

The thesis aims at investigating the basic rules of genre modeling in the Ukrainian drama of the last quarter of the XX – the beginning of the XXI century, possible forms and fixed schemes of interaction between myth and drama under the influence of the style eclectics, genre transformations, massive hyper-textuality, of various theatrical practice of the XX century. The genre system of the contemporary Ukrainian drama is reflected as a structural completeness with formed rules and schemes of inner-processes. Definite aspects are investigated on the comparative and synchronic material of the drama of Diaspora and metropolis, grounding of the most genre modus includes diachronic pretexts. Different levels of trends of organizations of the stage space, characters, drama language are investigated in the plays of the contemporary playwrights, thanks to whom there emerged a modern opposition of mimetic\ non-mimetic play, where one can see the potential of mythological structures for the genre-style development of drama of the end of the XX – beginning of the XXI century. The thesis includes plethora of sprawling texts of the Ukrainian playwrights of the period, which can be looked upon as totally experimental and thus fall out of the frame of the official theatrical process of our times. It is grounded why they are worth investigating and thus a new academic field of further drama studies is potentially opened. Different levels of acknowledging the pretexts by contemporary Ukrainian writers are studied, the main criteria of the selection are determined, that will allow definite texts read on the intertextual level to get the status of aesthetical myths for the drama of the end of the XX – beginning of the XXI century. The thesis grounds the peculiarity of the author’s neo mythological defining of genres, that’s well used nowadays. It also determines correlations between traditional and author’s genre on the drama texts being investigated.
