Abstract

In the article, the author aims to analyze the changes that have taken place in the publishing industry due to the scientific and technological revolution in the late XX - early XXI century and the transition of the country from the administrative-command to the market economy. In the chronological sequence, an analysis of technical, technological, structural and economic changes was made. The mechanisms of formation of new publishing structures, the role of privatization processes as the main factors influencing the processes of development of publishing business are considered. It is concluded that the development of the branch is mainly not due to privatization, but due to new business structures; the technical revolution led not only to the change of technology, but also changed the very essence of editorial work, initiated new publishing professions; network publishing activities has significantly brought consumers closer to publishers; the latest computer technologies with the use of new printing methods have begun a new stage in book publishing history
