Abstract

The photojournalism curriculum is a normative document of the Kyiv University named after Boris Grinchenko, developed by the Department of Journalism and New Media on the basis of a bachelor's educational program in accordance with the curriculum for this specialty of full-time study. The work program is concluded in accordance with the requirements of the credit-module system of training organization. The course is devoted to the study of theoretical and practical foundations of photojournalism as a specific applied discipline in the media system, visual-graphic culture and art in general. The course examines the history of the photographic business, its evolution from the realm of art into journalism, modern processes of mass communication. The basic genres of photography, the technical methods of their implementation, including. during the preparation and post-processing stages of the images. During the mastering of the discipline, students are offered to practice the acquired theoretical knowledge, to develop the professional skills and skills that are needed for a photojournalist, photographer, and photographer in everyday professional activity. Attention is also given to the interaction of photography with other forms of information and the types of media used in modern mass communications. The purpose of the training course "Photojournalism" is to develop a student's system of knowledge about photojournalism and develop practical skills as a photojournalist. Course objectives: • integrating students' interdisciplinary knowledge of visual information; • defining the role of photography in journalism and the visual culture; • developing knowledge and skills necessary for photography, further work with photography in professional activity; • study of the genre specificity of photography, its creation and distribution, use in mass communication processes; • learning about the variety of photography tools and techniques; • development of project work skills in visual culture
