Анотація
The purpose of the article is the clarification of quantitative and qualitative characteristics of Kurenivka mudslide results. This engineering hazard happened on the 13th of March, 1961, when the dam in the Babi Yar (Babyn Yar, large ravine in Kyiv) collapsed, and mud mass rushed down into the neighbourhood Kurenivka. Based on the thorough calculations, along with the analysis of literature and archive sources about Kurenivka mudslide, the minimum and maximum limits (span) for the general number of people (as well as for some special categories within the general number), who died on March 13, 1961, due the Kurenivka mudslide, are determined by the author. The results differ significantly from the estimates that have been established in historiography and the media. It is stated in the article, that even much more precise calculations could be done as a result of further research.
