Abstract

The article deals with the structure and semantics of derived nouns of German with native German suffixes with lexical categorical meaning of object that are based on metonymic transfer. Derived nouns are comprehensively investigated as units of derivational models, as carriers of a certain type of derivational meaning and as members of metonymic models. Suffixal derivational models of metonymic nouns are presented, which include derivational model of a tool, object as a result of action, object as a place, object as a carrier of features, object as agent, object related to a person. Types of derivational meaning are detected that are inherent to derived nouns with metonymic component. Semantic classification of derived nouns with object meaning based on metonymic models and types is defined.
