Abstract
The article describes motivation for children’s education in pre-school and during studying in primary school. Followed features of educational motivation according to the age. Disclosed gender characteristics in motivations of education. In preschool years social reasons are in priority which change in primary school to cognitive. Girls at preschool age have certainty in motives twice higher than boys but becoming primary school students, boys quickly change from social motives to motives which relate to the content of training and learning process. Proved that continuity in learning motivation plays an important role in formation and development of child throughout the studying. It is very important for teacher to understand the motives with which child comes to school, which motivation can and must emerge before the end of primary school.
