Abstract
The specificity of the development of the modern information society is considered and problems arising in Ukraine are analyzed due to the lack of coordination of the rates of economic development, technologies and production, and educational complex. The emphasis is placed on the fact that modern Ukrainian society is experiencing a difficult period of its development, when in the public consciousness the values of the previous era continue to dominate, and modern realities require from the person completely different landmarks. Education in the information society is analyzed as the dominant sphere, from which serious scientific developments and substantiated practical recommendations for the preparation of a specialist of a new type, adequate to the modern scientific and technological potential of the planetary community, are expected. The article focuses on the features of the modern information society: rapid dynamic development; intensive information exchange; cross-cultural communication; expansion of freedom and openness of communication and cooperation; uncertainty; nonlinearity; stochasticity; unpredictable nature of change. It is proved that the ideological and methodological principles of the educational process should be oriented on a holistic scientific picture of the world and man based on the comprehension of the latest results of all sciences. Only a harmonious combination of the values of the society of the 20th and 21st centuries, bringing them to a higher integrated level of global wisdom, anticipating conflicts of these values and the possible consequences of the development of information technologies can save the situation and become a step towards the future of civilized human development.
