Abstract
«Reduced training courses for headquarters officers to work at the operational headquarters of the UPR Army» began their activities on November 21, 1921 and they were called to prepare senior officers to replace the posts of chiefs of the headquarters of brigades and divisions. Their students received a sufficiently comprehensive general and special military education – including strategy and tactics, staffing techniques, fortifications and topography, administration and statistics, military history and legislation, history and geography of Ukraine, cavalry and artillery, Ukrainian spelling and the Polish language. At the end of January 1923, «Reduced training courses for senior staff officers to work at the operational headquarters of the UPR Army» were reorganized into «Academic courses at the General Staff of the UPR», that is, the preparatory department has actually been set up before joining the future Military Academy of the General Staff of the Army of the UPR.
