The article presents an attempt to describe some new approaches for training specialists in the field of special education in the context of the transition from medical to socially-inclusive model in education. Based on the usage of the direct structural evaluation method we have analyzed the state of the educational competencies, which are necessary for the successful teacher’s work in an inclusive space including the materials of the European Agency for Special Needs and inclusive Education project «Teacher Education for Inclusion» (2009 — 2012). We have identified basic competences, which are necessary for a modern special teacher for work in conditions of inclusive space. They are: the respect forthe diversity of children; planning, organization and implementation of the process of assessing the development of children and their educational needs; children's with different educational needs support; planning and organization of individual assistance for children; creation and evaluation of an inclusive educational space; specialists and parents team work; search community resources for realize children's educational needs; realization of pedagogical coaching for creation of an inclusive educational process. This can be realized on the basis of generalization of theoretical approaches for training teachers to work in an inclusive space. We have identified key factors which promote implementation of the proposed competencies. These factors correspond to pedagogical education and policy of teaching in conditions of inclusive education. We outlined new approaches for training special education specialists in the context of reforming of the new Ukrainian school with a focus on inclusive. The practical value of the research is in proposing of the new approaches fortraining special teachers in the context of the socially-inclusive model in education which can be implemented through new educational programs for specialists majoring in specialty 016 «Special Education». Prospects for further scientific research can be seen in improving of the content and technology of training of future special teachers for professional activities in conditions of inclusive educational space.
