Abstract
The thesis focuses on the research and investigation, an issue of linguistic competence in future second language teachers formed during specialty courses was determined to consist of three basic approaches – competent (since future foreign language teachers’ linguistic competence should be developed as a component of basic teacher’s professional competence), practical (future second language teachers’linguistic competence is particularly formed within their educative and quasiprosessional activity) and sociolinguistic (since it allows to determine the specificity of foreign language linguistic competence of future teachers and the place and role of specialty courses during competence formation). All together these scientific approaches allow to develop an optimal system of research methods and techniques, to create certain pedagogic conditions for formation of future second language teachers’ linguistic competence and to develop methods for its creation to conduct an effective experimental work. The key concepts of formation of future second language teachers’ linguistic competence during specialty courses were listed. They include concepts “competence”, “speech”, “linguistic competence”, “specialty courses” and some related terms. Having analyzed scientific literature on the above mentioned concepts, we offered the definition of linguistic competence (within the context of its formation in future second language teachers) as foreign language knowledge, oral skills and usage of second languages with the stable motivation for learning and teaching methods of foreign languages at secondary schools. The concept analysis of the research issue helps define the concept “formation of linguistic competence of future foreign languages teachers” as the development of oral skills, knowledge, abilities and practice of foreign language communication of future second languages teachers, with formation of their positive motivation and self-evaluation of the specified competence, based on the competent, practical, and social and linguistic approaches. The structure and content of linguistic competence for future foreign language teachers have been defined. Basing on the scientific literature analysis and own scientific-pedagogic experience, we expanded this structure with the following components: motivational, social and cultural, practical and reflexive. The basic specialty courses forming linguistic competence in future foreign language teachers have been analyzed; the following disciplines have been listed: modern linguistics, practice in oral and written language and some other disciplines. The thesis contains expert evaluation of pedagogical conditions of formation of the future second languages teachers’ linguistic competence while studying specialty courses. Ways of planning the system of pedagogical conditions on educational process organization are described herein and an expert evaluation with the significance factor calculation is selected. In accordance with the results of the academic staff survey, the following factors have been included into the list of pedagogical conditions of linguistic competence formation in future second languages teachers while studying specialty courses: monitoring of personal difficulties in oral and written language and their overcoming; stimulation of interest in young people to improve their own speaking activity; introduction of communicative tasks into the system of educational and production practices for students; creation of good communicative environment during specialty courses. The thesis presents the research and methodological justification of the technology for linguistic competence formation in future second language teachers during specialty courses, that is characterized by communicative directions, purposefulness, system-based pedagogical activity in relation to harmonization of goals, forms, contents, methods and results of studying. A pedagogical experiment was conducted in relation to the nature of influence of the pedagogical conditions system and the technology for linguistic competence formation in future second language teachers during specialty courses. A structure of the technology for linguistic competence formation in future foreign language teachers while studying specialty courses is believed to be the system of goal-oriented, organizational, substantive, methodological and effective components The dynamics and tendencies in the control group are tended to distribution of students by their linguistic competence levels, revealed at the ascertaining stage of the experiment. The following issues seem to be perspective for further researches: the role of psychological and pedagogical disciplines in future teachers’ linguistic competence formation; research and comparative analysis of the experience in foreign language linguistic competence formation in students of foreign higher educational institutions; development of the methodological support for the linguistic competence formation in future foreign language teachers while studying specialty courses.
