Abstract
The article deals with the peculiarities of the formation of language and area competence in the process of training of the future teachers of a foreign language based on the modern concepts of its teaching. The authors investigate the problem of the training of the future teachers of a foreign language on the materials related to the country the language of which is learnt, in the context of the communicative approach, and suggest the main ways to solve the problem mentioned above.
