Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of formation of social and moral competence of senior preschool children on the basis of the use of plot role plays. The urgency of the researched problem is determined. The essence of social and moral competence is outlined. The scientific basis of the problem of the research is defined. Some social factors that complicate the solution of the problem of the research are outlined. Playing as the main activity of children of preschool age is characterised. The possibilities of playing activity in social and moral upbringing of preschoolers are considered. The dependence of the level of formation of pre-school relationships on the level of development of their playing activity is stated. The stages of improvement of the plot role plays are determined. The peculiarities of the use of situations of moral choice and the combination of teacher’s playing with children and direct independent playing activity of preschoolers in the process of formation of the investigated competence are revealed.
