Abstract
The end of 1991 was marked by the collapse of the USSR. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Ukraine and other former union republics that functioned in one country, united by common legislation, took the path of building their independence, forming the national legislation of the economic branches. Each post-Soviet country has an inseparable companion of this process, a certain level of corruption, which is one of the factors causing emergent problems, for example, adequate water supply for all its needs. The above motivated the author to investigate the political and legal factors of corruption in the water sector, using the example of one of the post-Soviet countries, namely Ukraine. We believe that the results of the research based on the experience of this country, taking into account both its positive and negative characteristics, can be useful in the formation of the national water management of all countries of Central Asia.
