Abstract
The problem of formation of grammatical competence in the structure of linguistic personality of the modern high school student is covered in the article. A brief overview of the main issues of updating curricula in the Ukrainian language, in particular, of the general secondary education system of Ukraine in general. The ways of solving the problem of strengthening the rhetorical aspect in the content component of the curricula while mastering the problematic issues of grammar of the Ukrainian language by high school students are suggested. In particular, the emphasis is placed on the need to develop the verbal intelligence of the individual by introducing students to basic rhetorical concepts and forming their fascinative abilities. The fascinative abilities of the linguistic personality of the high school student in the structure of grammatical competence are characterized. Particular attention is paid to the internal structure of grammatical competence and the specificity of its implementation in the process of forming the linguistic personality of a high school student in a general secondary education institution. Effective methods, techniques and means of forming grammatical competence in the process of learning Ukrainian are highlighted. Prospects for further research are described
