Abstract
In the dissertation for the first time the formation of pupils' skills of the 6-7ш forms to work with a textbook in the process of learning history as a special methodical problem is researched, methodical conditions of formation of such skills are defined. The scientific analysis of the level of groundwork of the researching problem in theory and practice of learning history in Ukrainian and foreign schools is carried out. In dissertation the points as for necessity and expediency of formation of pupils' skills to work with a textbook in school historic education, their role in formation of pupils' subject competence in the context of the researching problem have got a further development. The methods of formation of pupils' skills of the 6-7 forms to work with a textbook in the process of learning history was theoretically substantiated and experimentally examined.
