Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of reforming facilities of institutional care and upbringing of children (deinstitutionalization), finding effective ways to ensure adaptation of pupils (former pupils of boarding schools) in the new school environment. It is noted that successful adaptation of such children at school at the place of residence is the key to their effective reintegration into the family environment, further socialization, education and development. Project work of the author as an expert in Ternopil region (Ukraine) ensure presentation of the article content, conclusions and proposals. It is defined that effective ways of pedagogical support that will ensure successful adaptation of pupils (former pupils of institutional care facilities) and upbringing of children in the new school environment, are the following: assistance in education, including implementation of distance learning or externship; establishing multi-vector partnership with the family of the child, pedagogical education of parents mainly by using interactive methods. It was found that the child adaptation may be improved by the following: strengthening communication, supervising of a child’s reactions and behavior by a specialist; interaction with psychological service specialists (practical psychologist and social educator) in order to help a pupil to overcome the stress and consequences of negative experience; protection of a child from bullying, any other threat to his/her life and health, including mobile connection with employees of Children's Affairs Service and Center for Social Services for Family, Children and Youth. General action plan for pedagogical staff is prepared for cases when difficult life circumstances of a child were found. Defined the role of intensive involvement of a child into school life (students’ self-government), community, children's public organization in the process of adaptation, as well as appointment of a mentor for a child within the high school pupils or teachers; strengthening the out-of-school pupils support network; forming a community opinion about the need to support such children and their families
