Abstract

The main point in the article is to focus attention on the characteristic features of project activities in preschool institutions. It is shown that the use of project activities is an important tool of modern education and upbringing, cognitive development and creative abilities of a preschool learner, as well as his/her preparation for study at the New Ukrainian School. It is established that project activity is one of the active types of students’ educational and cognitive activities. It is aimed at solving the problems associated with the creation of an educational product that has a subjective or objective value and can be considered as a way to organize such activities. It provides an integrated approach in education, because it requires a thoughtful and reasonable combination of content from different educational basic components of Preschool Education or educational areas of the State Standard of Primary Education, respectively. The basis of project activities is the interaction of educational entities, which is manifested in joint work, cognition, communication. Project activities involve teachers’ creation of such conditions that allow children to work independently or/and together with an adult. They help pupils to gain, analyze and transform new practical experience by experimental and explorative way. In project activities, the child is considered to be a subject, because he/she gets the opportunity to be an independent, proactive, active person who is responsible for experience of their activities, their actions. The essence of the project activity is to activate and support children's interest in the various problems identified in this activity. It is proved that the management of project activities leads to change the position of the teacher. From the carrier of ready-made knowledge, he/she becomes the organizer of the cognitive activity of the pupils. The teacher helps kids to find a solution to the problems posed or identified by them. The teacher involves children to find a solution, discover new knowledge and impose it at the level of experience. The purpose, tasks, principles of organization, structure and stages of realization of project activity of children are revealed in this article.
