Abstract

The article deals with the analysis of the information culture functional orientation in its anthropological dimension ‒ as a reflection of the intellectual potential of the general material and spiritual culture of mankind formation and development. Philosophical analysis of the information culture functional orientation as a dynamic phenomenon, open to constant change and innovation, is carried out from the standpoint of technocratic, information technology and culturological approaches. It is noted that in the stages of information and communication revolutions (verbal, printing and technological), historical context, the dynamics of technical innovations has always outpaced the pace of information culture, so the complexity of information culture functions has become a response to global historical challenges. The study emphasizes that the information civilization development results in the expansion and complication of the spectrum of information culture functions in relation to society, namely: at the written stage of social development it is ideological, cultural, informational and regulatory; the stage of book printing expands the functions of information culture ‒ it is educational, communicative function of preserving social memory. In the conditions of global network society formation, there is an improvement and further functional orientation differentiation of information culture and its organic combination with organizational, digital and media culture. The management function of information culture is determined by the necessity of knowledge management for effective business. The information culture of virtual reality generates the alienation of social experience from its bearer, forming a transformational function, function of intercultural dialogue and a function of virtual construction of social reality. The determining factor of modern geopolitics is the active development of information warfare strategies, which necessitates the analytical and prognostic function of information culture as the ability to information reality analytical assessment and its development prediction. The conclusions emphasize that the functional orientation of information culture reflects the dialectical unity of the need for constant creation of new tools and ways of mastering the surrounding information reality, while preserving cultural heritage and social experience
