Abstract
The relevance of scientific intelligence is that the Old German material provides only sporadic cases of using the adjective II without the service verb as an independent predicate. The adjective II appears as a carrier of the grammatical class meaning of passivity. Used The adjective II in the Old Germanic languages can be traced by analyzing different types of conjunctions. text by various syntactic parameters. That is why the purpose of the article is to make an attempt to to think about the specifics of constructions with the adjective ІІ on the example of Old Germanic languages of different ranges - West Germanic and Goth-Scandinavian - and identify common and different features and characteristics that contributed to the formation of the class paradigm in general. The article defines but that in the Gothic language the protocategorical constructions with the adjective ІІ are used in independent segments of a compound sentence, they are characterized by shades of effectiveness, to the forefront, the subject’s involvement in the process, or the performer’s detachment from the process.
