Abstract

The article presents a methodical system of work on the formation of lexicological skills of students in Ukrainian language lessons in primary school. The stages of studying lexicology as a section of the initial course of the Ukrainian language are specified. The main tasks of studying lexicology in primary school are determined. The priority directions of the teacher's work during the elaboration of the elements of lexicology are indicated. the principles of elaboration of lexical topics are characterized: work on direct and figurative meaning of words; study of unambiguous and polysemous words; assimilation of synonyms; processing of antonyms; work on homonyms. The types of lexical exercises and tasks that should be used in the study of elements of lexicology in primary school are identified. The main approaches to the organization of vocabulary work in Ukrainian language lessons in primary school are described. Lexicology is an important component of the initial course of the Ukrainian language and is studied before morphemes and word formation, morphology and syntax, as younger students must first get acquainted with the lexical richness of the language. This approach provides a comparison of lexical and grammatical phenomena of the Ukrainian language and promotes the fact that younger students master the language skills in the system. During the development of elements of lexicology students develop interest in learning the Ukrainian language in general, develop attention to the meaning of words and their use in their own speech, develop the ability to choose appropriate words to accurately express their thoughts, develop a sense of language. Word acquisition for a child is an active, purposeful process that involves the ability to use the word in accordance with its semantic, stylistic features, its compatibility with other words, the ability to use the lexical richness of the Ukrainian language to communicate and express their own opinions.
