Abstract

This article substantiates need for the formation of reflection skills in the professional self-development of future music teachers. Such skills include self-analysis, self assessment and self-control. It is noted that self-analysis in professional self-development is the future specialist's knowledge of state and results of his self-creative activity, critical analysis of his individual features, qualities, capabilities; self assessment is formed through the evaluations of others, evaluation of the results of their activities, comparison of real and ideal beliefs about themselves; self-control in the self-development activities of the future music teacher involves conscious regulation of planned actions – the distribution of time and effort, strict adherence to the schedule, prevention and elimination of various failures and shortcomings. This article also offers reflection training for the formation of these skills. The purpose of the training is to develop reflection in personal and communication aspects; awareness of teacher’s previously unconscious habits, features of speech, behavior; self-disclosure and awareness of the strengths of one's personality; the opportunity to look at yourself through the eyes of another person. It is emphasized that the formation of reflection skills (self-analysis, self-assessment, self-control) in the future music teacher contributes to a positive attitude towards professional activity, assessment and regulation of mental states, self-education and self-development of the student; the introduction of reflection training in the professional training of future music teachers activates cognitive activity, motivates the student to professional self-development and allows the individual to become a subject of self-development.
