Abstract

In order to effectively form the reading competence of students at literature lessons at school, it is necessary to take into account the specifics of their literary development, in particular, the level of artistic thinking. The article is devoted to the analysis of certain psychological and pedagogical aspects of the development of artistic and figurative thinking in the process of teaching literature to students of junior and senior adolescence. Some positive psychological changes that occur in adolescence at different stages and have a direct impact on the development of artistic thinking of students (self-regulation, memory, imagination, emotional sphere, figurative generalization, figurative concretization etc.) are described.
