In the modern educational process of primary school, tools for creating, transmitting, reproduc-ing, and processing information with the help of graphic and visual images are becoming important. Cogni-tive visualization as an educational technology is associated with the use of visual models in the educational process, the use of color, shape, graphics, drawings, animation, which helps to teach students the rational methods of processing, analysis of information and its graphical representation. Graphic organizers are one of the types of cognitive graphics, the essence of which is to develop combined cognitive models of knowledge, which combine symbolic and graphical ways of presenting educational material. The use of graphic organizers in reading lessons in primary school is due to the fact that they activate the thinking process, develop logic, creative imagination, allow to understand the theme, main idea, characters, determine the sequence of events, genre of work, help express their attitudes, thoughts, emotions in relation to what is read, help to systematize, structure information, make it complete. Graphic organizers of reading for the formation of skills of primary school pupils to understand the actual content, theme, main idea of the work, to establish causal links between events, characters, facts, make a plan, model of the work, retell it, identify main and secondary characters, characterize them by deeds, actions, words, explain and understand the motives of their behavior, compare the actions, attitudes, values of literary characters, identify, describe their own feelings, emotions, preferences, attitudes to what is read. In the context of the requirements of the New Ukrainian School, graphic organizers of reading contribute to the formation of reading competence; ability to express one's own opinion, logically substantiate it, constructively manage emotions, cooperate in a team; create conditions for taking into account the educational needs of students; provide opportunities for individual, joint, creative, independent, effective work in the centers of activity of junior schoolchildren.
