Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of polymodal perception. Its importance for the development of speech and cognitive activity in children of older preschool age with general speech underdevelopment is emphasized. Polymodal perceptions are defined as integrative mental education, which is provided by the activity of sensory systems, is realized in the holistic sensory-perceptual experience of the child and is the foundation for the construction of higher mental functions (thinking and speech). In the article the neuropsychological bases of a research problem are considered, results of modern researches are resulted. The authors of the article used a systematic approach in the selection of diagnostic tools and the organization of the formative effect. The results of a pilot study are presented, which confirm the low level of formation of monomodal (visual, auditory, tactile) and polymodal (auditory-visual, visual-tactile) perception in children with general speech underdevelopment. It was difficult for the children to recognize noisy images, to differentiate speech and non-speech sounds, to identify objects by touch and to describe them; recognize sounds (rhythm, tempo, force, localization), compare words and sounds with images. The correctional and developing program which contains a complex of game occupations directed on development of visual-auditory-tactile perception, on the principle of gradual complication and transition from monomodal perception to polymodal is offered. The effectiveness of purposeful corrective and developmental influence on the basis of increasing the level of formation of polymaodal perception from low to medium level has been proved. The results are statistically confirmed. Relevant aspects of the development of polymodal perceptions in older preschool children with general speech underdevelopment are identified, namely: the application of a systematic approach based on the principles of integrity of the psyche, consistency of theory and practice, interconnection between diagnosis and correction.
