Abstract

The basis of modem quality education is the formation of a competent personality. School literary education is aimed at the formation and development of various competencies of students, including reading. The article identifies and characterizes certain components of students’ reading competence: knowledge, skills and intuition; requirements for different levels of reader readiness have been formed and prospects for the development of reading competence in literature lessons have been outlined. The process of forming this competence is impossible without taking into account thorough research in various humanities, including receptive aesthetics, which studies the problems of perception of the text by recipients, because artistic perception is always a complex multifaceted process determined by various characteristics: subjective individual characteristics, active qualities of an artistic text, public opinion, artistic tradition, etc. Reader’s reception is studied within the framework of literary communication (“author” - work of art - reader) and educational interaction (literary work - author-reader-teacher - reader-student). The article introduces the analysis of basic research in the field of receptive aesthetics on the problems of reader perception, the specifics of perception of artistic reality and the implementation of the principle of dialogism, namely the works of H.R. Jauss, W. Iser, B. Korman and M. Bakhtin. The article also presents certain provisions of receptive aesthetics that the teacher should take into account when working with students on the formation of their reading competence: taking into account the dynamics of the reading process, familiarity with literary techniques and traditions, implementation of the principle of historicism, perception of artistic reality and realization of the principle of dialogism, taking into account individual features of the reader’s reception. In addition, emphasis is placed on the fact that when using the theoretical provisions of aesthetics, the teacher may face a number of problems that require a qualified solution.
