Abstract

The article substantiates the didactic and methodological grounds for practical application of SWOT-analysis technologies for the qualitative organization of forum discussions in a foreign language for students of non-core specialties. Within the study approach the technology of SWOT-analysis have been applied for comprehensive and multilateral consideration of thematic blocks of the discipline Foreign Language for Professional Purposes on the principles of scientific approach, communication, interconnected learning, integrative development of communication skills, learning experience and interdisciplinary links according to the competence oriented paradigm of foreign language teaching. By practical implementation of the author's e-learning educational and methodical complex it has been empirically proven that the organization of the online forums contributes to the deepening of theoretical and practical knowledge in foreign language communication, provides gaining practical experience of scientific communication via views exchange, as well as discussion skills of critical analysis and decision-making strategies within the formulation of acceptable approaches to interpretation of the identified problem field, and raises the students’ motivation of problem-solving activities. Content analysis of the quality of learning via social forum-interaction asserts the effectiveness of this form of study in asynchronous format as well due to constant updating of information messages at different stages of foreign language learning process which effectively stimulates productive dialogue activity and foreign language communication in direct and reverse subject-to-subject interaction, where the teacher acts as a facilitator / mediator. This finding supports that blended learning allows the optimal effective combination of traditional forms of the educational process organization with innovative technologies, forms and methods of distance, electronic and mobile learning to implement the content integrity of the Foreign Language for Professional Purposes course.
