Abstract

The article highlights the features of constructing practice-oriented tasks in Ukrainian language lessons in grades 5–9. It is noted that the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education is based on competence, personality-oriented and activity-based approaches to learning, which are implemented in educational fields, in particular in the field of language and literature. It is emphasized that an important result of general secondary education is the formation of students’ competencies to solve real problems and tasks that arise in life situations. Emphasis is placed on the fact that the methodology of competency-oriented lesson should be implemented conditions and situations that would determine the need of students to apply the acquired language knowledge and speech skills in social practice. The main characteristics of practice-oriented learning are substantiated, in particular, that the subject is placed in an activity position, which requires him to independently and consciously choose the necessary actions using the acquired knowledge and skills. The structure is presented (outlining the real life situation in which students got or can get; motivational support, ie interest in identifying and solving the problem created by the outlined situation; expressiveness of the need to use theoretical material to analyze and solve a practical problem; taking into account the need to use elements of key competencies) and criteria for practice-oriented tasks (accessibility for students to understand the situation; relevance, personal and social significance of the situation for students; connection with the components of subject competence defined by the program appropriate level of formation of certain key competencies), generalized conditions of its implementation are outlined. Examples of different levels of exercises and tasks in the Ukrainian language for students of 5-9 grades are given. It is concluded that practice-oriented tasks allow to bring school education as close as possible to specific life situations, promote the formation of students’ adaptive skills and abilities –think critically and creatively, analyze and choose appropriate actions in difficult situations; work in a team, organize positive interpersonal interaction in pairs and groups, exercise self-organization and self-control.
