Abstract

The contribution of Ukrainian correctional teachers of the past to the formation of speech therapy is truly significant. Among the luminaries of famous practicing teachers, Maria Avramivna Savchenko was a bright figure, who managed to leave quite a mark in the theory and practice of domestic speech therapy. Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, assistant professor of the Department of Deaf Pedagogy and Speech Therapy of the Defectology Faculty of the Kyiv State Pedagogical Institute named after M. P. Drahomanov, speech therapist of the Kyiv Specialized Psychoneurological Medical Association, author of many scientific and methodological works, Maria Savchenko made a significant contribution to the development of speech therapy science and practice in Ukraine . However, a complete thorough study of the life, scientific and practical activities and heritage of Maria Avramivna has not been carried out yet. Therefore, the long-term and significant scientific and pedagogical experience of the scientist, its significance for the modern theory and practice of teaching and raising children with speech, intellectual development and hearing disorders led to the choice of the topic of scientific research: "The contribution of the scientific and pedagogical heritage of Maria Savchenko to the development of domestic speech therapy", based on the results of which this article was prepared.
