Abstract

The article deals with the organizational and methodological bases of learning the section "Text" by primary school pupils at Ukrainian language lessons. The article raises a subject relevant to current educational reforms and the development of the New Ukrainian School – NUS. It is during the first year of school that pupils become familiar with the text, acquire the skills and abilities to work with the content (text), analyze and edit it. The necessity of professional and pedagogical preparation of teachers to work on the formation of textual skills in primary schoolchildren is determined. Gives a definition of text in general and what types of speech are studied in elementary school. The essence of the defining features of texts is revealed. Attention is focused on the system of studying different types of texts (text – narratives, text – descriptions, text – reasoning). Each type of speech is described. The textual skills of primary school pupils, which should be developed in Ukrainian language lessons, are indicated. The main methodological aspects of the successful formation of textual skills of primary school students are considered. General recommendations for organizing work on the study of the section "Text" in the Ukrainian language lessons are given. Focus is laid on how working with a text contributes to the development of logical thinking of elementary pupils. Certain techniques of working with a text are given which can be used in language lessons and reading lessons. It is recommended for a teacher to give preference to active forms of organizing students' learning activities in class (pair work, group work), effective methods of cooperation between teachers and students (situational learning, opinion exchange), a system of textological exercises and tasks, which will help to develop the language personality of the younger schoolchildren and their communicative competence. It is emphasized that when working on the structure of the text, the primary school teacher should familiarize students with the specific design of the initial (opening) and final (ending) parts. Attention to the regularities of text construction contributes to the development of younger students' thinking, the formation and improvement of their ability to build oral and written statements, a thorough study of the regularities of coherent speech in the following grades, and helps in the processing of educational material not only in the Ukrainian language but also in other school subjects.
