Abstract

The article is devoted to the description of the semantics of reflexives, which are correlated with intransitive verbs. The author analyzed them from the standpoint of implicit morphology and taking into account the semantic functions of preverbal actants. This approach will make it possible to improve the methodology of compiling explanatory dictionaries of the modern Ukrainian language. The main principle of systematization of reflexives was the principle of functional significance of components belonging to different syntactic constructions. Syntactically articulated and non-articulated actants are considered separately. The dictionary presents the semantic structure of object conversive and passive reflexives, which reflect the relation of syntactically disarticulated actants – subject and appendage (subject and object). The semantic structure of autocausative reflexives, in which subject-object relations are not represented, is correctly reproduced. The author argues that dictionary of the Ukrainian language (SUM) mainly consistently records the meaning of reflexive verbs, which belong to undivided subject-object structures (proper-reversive and reflexive-possessive reflexives), as well as subject-subject (reciprocal verbs). Only in some places the proper-inverse and reflexive-possessive meaning with the hybrid function of the subject is not distinguished, despite the differential seme «included object». SUM inconsistently reflects definitions of verbs that illustrate potentially represented subject-object relations. SUM does not provide absolutives and modal quasi-passives. Although the analysis of language material shows that such meanings exist. The results indicate that dictionary often combines the meanings of verbs that condition different functions of actants in the subject position into one lexical-semantic variant (LSV). First of all, modal quasi-passives and decausatives are not distinguished as separate LSV. This study demonstrates that dictionary entries of most absolutives must contain at least three main meanings. The main object meanings of the dictionary article, which is devoted to most modal quasi-passives, have been described. It has been shown that dictionary article of the verbs «mazatysa», «mastytysa» will contain six meanings.
