Abstract

Social practice shows that lies, deception and untruth are inevitable social and psychological components of a person's life in society. In human relationships and relationships, we are constantly faced with various types of lies. In our opinion, a social worker should possess the skills of verbal and non-verbal assessment of information provided by the recipient of social services. The article considers the applied value of non-contact lie detection in social work, which helps to analyze the client's information by verbal and non-verbal methods; detect attempts by the client to mislead the social worker; avoid mistakes in solving social problems during the provision of social services to the client, etc. At the same time, this technology was not widely used in the activities of social workers. This is explained by the absence in institutions of higher education that prepare specialists for work in social institutes of an educational discipline that gives students the opportunity to acquire certain professional competencies. It is advisable to use non-contact lie detection when providing clients with social services, including counseling, when concluding agreements and negotiations, and implementing programs. This will have a positive effect on the "end product" of the activities of social workers. It is not advisable to use non-contact lie detection skills when communicating with family members, relatives and close friends. Further study of non-contact lie detection in social work requires conducting research in order to establish criteria for assessing the truthfulness of information of clients who receive social services; development of educational and methodological materials for the training of social workers in this direction; conducting trainings for social workers with the aim of teaching them methods of identifying false information using non-contact lie detection methods.
