Abstract

The article analyses the peculiarities of the use of colours in creative art activities of preschool children. The article investigates the issue of development of colour perception by 1–7-year-old children in the works of Ukrainian and foreign scientists. An analysis of normative documents regarding the formation of ideas about colours in preschool education was carried out. It has been found that colour is an important means of expression in creative activity, a way of organising the aesthetics of everyday life, and self-expression. The attention is focused on the researches of psychologists, who considered colour in the syncresis of art tools and the influence of motivation on the use of the palette of colours by children in creative art activities. The issue of children’s attitude to colours is highlighted, which colours children prefer and consider favourite. The research confirmed the influence of gender stereotypes on children’s perception and use of colours when making paper products. The influence ofvarious motives on the creative art activities of preschool children and their relationship with the use of colours in the process of artistic construction are considered. It has been found that children choose the colour of materials for making crafts according to their own preferences, but the purpose of the product is a significant factor influencing their choice. Experimental research has proven that children take into account the interests of others and are ready to give in to their own desires and tastes, they are guided not by their own preferences, but by the tastes of the recipient of the gift, which allows us to note the influence of moral motives on children’s choices. The conclusions of scientists regarding the perception of colours by older preschool children in modern practice have been confirmed. Characteristic features of perception and formation of ideas about colour in the artistic and productive activity of preschool children are singled out.
