Abstract

The article analyzes the organization of the teacher’s work in studying the section «Word. The meaning of the word» in primary school. The basic concepts of the research are described. The linguistic didactic foundations of the study of the section «Word. The meaning of the word» in the practice of primary education of the Ukrainian language, important aspects of primary education of the Ukrainian language and linguistic didactic principles of implementation of these aspects. Theoretical approaches to the development of lexicological units in primary school were studied, namely: the main directions of work on the formation of lexicological skills of younger schoolchildren, the methodology of formation of lexicological skills of primary school students (preparatory, special and aspect stage of improving lexicological skills). The organizational and methodological foundations of the study of the section «Word. The meaning of the word» in Ukrainian language lessons in grades 2-4. It has been proven that the methodical system of work on the formation of lexicological skills of primary school students should provide for the use of appropriate forms of organizing educational activities of younger schoolchildren. In order to successfully develop students’ skills in lexicology, it is necessary to give preference to active forms of work - work in pairs and work in small groups, which will ensure the involvement of all younger schoolchildren in active speaking activities. In order to achieve efficiency in the performance of lexical and logical exercises, certain methodological conditions must be taken into account: the activation of children’s cognitive activity, the connection with the vocabulary of the textbook and the language subject being studied, the use of «conflicting» words, the connection with the development of coherent expressions of various types and styles, use of visualization such as objects or pictures, and progressively more difficult exercises. The teacher’s use of various lexical exercises will contribute to the expansion and enrichment of students’ vocabulary, as well as the development of their skills in choosing words from their dictionary that best reflect the meaning of the statement. It is proven that the implementation of all the specified specific linguistic and methodical principles in the study of lexicological concepts provides a modern teacher of elementary grades of a general secondary education institution with the opportunity to ensure the organic relationship of the section «Word. The meaning of the word» with grammar, stylistics, coherent speech of students will contribute to the formation of perfect oral and written expressions.
