Abstract

The article shows the results of the analysis of the current conditiobs and trends in higher education in the USA. The authors put emphasis on the main trends in the US higher education system, namely the internationalization of education (attracting foreign students to study in higher education establishments), open education (creation of online courses, video lessons, lectures that will be available to every student in a distance format) and applying of AI in the educational process (development of AI implementation mechanisms in educational process). It is found out that higher education in the USA is characterized by modern trends – the internationalization of education (the USA is the country with the largest number of foreign students), open education and applying of AI in the educational process, which are consistent with the requirements of the BANI world, which is labeled as brittle, anxious, nonlinear, incomprehensible and it needs changes to the organization and results of education as a social institution. Due to the emergence of extreme conditions (the COVID-19 pandemic, martial law), the educational process acquired a different format, adapting to the new conditions and forming new education trends. It is emphasized that modern education trends can be implemented in the system of higher education in Ukraine, namely open learning (currently, obtaining higher education in a distance format) and the use of AI for educational purposes, internationalization of education can be partially realized. It is concluded that the modern educational system should be adaptive and flexible in order to meet the new requirements of society. The conducted research substantiates the need for further monitoring of new educational trends and determining the conditions for their introduction into domestic educational practice.
