Abstract
Abstract. The article examines the peculiarities of the formation of research competence of older preschool children in project activities. It has been established that research activity is natural for a preschool child and generates research behavior and creates conditions for the self-development of mental processes of older preschoolers. The research competence of preschoolers is formed in the process of educational activities aimed at sensory and cognitive development of children. The research activity of preschool children stimulates them to independently solve problematic tasks, discover nature, practical transformative actions, gain experience in new situations and when solving set cognitive tasks. The research activity of preschool children involves the formation in children of personal qualities of initiative, activity, the ability to plan and carry out activities, achieve certain results and formulate conclusions, argue them.An effective means of forming the research competence of preschoolers is the project activity of children, thanks to which children master the skills of planning their activities, learn to choose the right methods and ways of their implementation, and solve cognitive and practical tasks. It is indicated that research activities with the help of projects are organized mainly for children of older preschool age, while children can only experiment with inanimate nature: water, air, sand, soil, stones,light. When involving preschoolers in projects, their age and individual capabilities should be taken into account.The requirements for the organization of projects are considered, the expediency of a successful selection of tools for their implementation is indicated. The importance of filling educational cells in the group with a variety of materials,creating a favorable subject-development environment, arranging children's laboratories and a permanent place for the presentation of project results, arranging mini-exhibitions of products or objects that remind of the conducted research projects was emphasized.
