Abstract

A child of primary school age thinks mainly in images, and he has not yet formed the logic of thinking characteristic of an adult. Based on the specifics of cognitive abilities of primary school students, in modern pedagogical practice and, including, in school programs, the most attention is paid to visualization, i.e. visualization of studied objects and phenomena. One of the most promising technologies in this aspect is augmented reality technology (Augmented Reality - AR).The article examines the concept, essence and characteristics of augmented reality as an educational technology, prospects and possibilities, efficiency, as well as organizational and methodological conditions for the use of this technology in elementary school. The main attention is paid to how new technologies can be used to create a new educational space that will contribute to increasing the cognitive interest of younger schoolchildren. It is about the fundamental difference between augmented reality technologies and other Internet-oriented educational technologies used. The author also touches on the problem of today's schools, namely, the limited use of AR elements in the modern educational process of primary school due to insufficient training of teachers on this issue, gives examples of didactic materials of this technology, examples of use under conditions of even the smallest technical support. Leading aspects are also indicated, which include a selection of educational programs, pedagogical materials and methodological recommendations for teachers. An important element is establishing the appropriate content for augmented reality and defining the functionality. The general purpose of the article is to popularize augmented reality as a means of improving the educational process in elementary school and to provide teachers and methodologists with practical recommendations for its implementation in educational practice
