Abstract
The relevance of the study of the phenomenon of psychological well-being is due to the growing level of stress in today's society caused by socio-economic and political transformations. Uncertainty and instability stimulates the search for personal aspects that have a positive impact on the psychological well-being of an individual. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to examine the relationship between the process of identity formation and the psychological well-being of adolescents in a rehabilitation center. The study provides insight into how adolescents perceive themselves and their place in the world during and after their stay in a rehabilitation center, and makes it possible to determine the role of rehabilitation in identity formation, for which adolescence is a crucial stage. The study delves into a critical aspect of the psychological well-being of adolescents in rehabilitation centers. Adolescence can be a tumultuous period marked by mental health issues, and the rehabilitation environment can both exacerbate and mitigate these problems. By highlighting the relationship between identity formation and psychological well-being, this study offers information for social workers and psychologists to help them develop individualized rehabilitation programs that meet the unique needs of adolescents and positively impact their sense of self and overall mental health. A strong and positive sense of identity is essential for psychological well-being. Rehabilitation centers can play a crucial role in promoting positive identity development among adolescents. The results of the study highlight the key aspects that significantly affect the mental well-being of adolescents in rehabilitation institutions: their physical health, social relationships, self-perception, self-esteem, the ability to manage their lives, maintain a positive outlook on the future, trust in their ideas and values , as well as personal growth and improvement. The study also emphasizes the importance of creating an atmosphere of support and empathy in rehabilitation centers, which facilitates the path of recovery and healthy self-identification for adolescents. The research findings also shed light on the different identity statuses that adolescents may experience, such as «withdrawal», «diffusion», «achievement» and «moratorium». Each of these statuses has certain consequences for their psychological well-being.
