Abstract

The article found out that it is important to find methods of organizing educational activities that are consistent with modern educational realities, as well as theoretical justification, methodological support and practical implementation of new forms and technologies of learning the Ukrainian as a foreign language. The article is devoted to the problem of defining the essence of didactic board games, revealing the features of their use in teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language. The research is aimed at improving the methods of teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language and introducing new approaches to enrich the educational process. The revival of board gameplay has been discussed in mainstream media, and has drawn the attention of researchers. The analysis of scientific publications on the topic revealed the increased interest of modern researchers in the problem of using didactic games in education, in particular, board games, which make it possible to create an alternative learning space with the potential of cognitive, speech and behavioral development. The didactic potential of board games was analyzed, and their impact on the development of vocabulary, language knowledge and communication skills of students was considered. The article highlights specific examples of board games, namely "Who am I?", "Families", "Scrabble", "Alias" and others, which can be used in the learning process, as well as recommendations for their effective implementation in the learning process. The relevance of using board games in the educational activities of foreign students was revealed. The main advantages and risks that may arise in the process of implementing the outlined method are analyzed. The advantages of using board games are highlighted, including convenience, visual capabilities, multifunctionality, thematic diversity, interactivity and impact on the emotional sphere. It is emphasized that the use of board games’ elements in the process of learning the Ukrainian as a foreign language makes it possible to conduct lessons in accordance with modern pedagogical, psychological and didactic requirements. Such classes direct the activities of foreign students to enrich their vocabulary, increase emotionality of educational process, contribute to the formation of communicative competence through group interaction.
