Abstract

The article considers modern online services as a means of forming the cognitive orientation of university students in learning a foreign language (FL). Attention is focused on the peculiarities of using ICT as a means of forming the cognitive orientation of university students in learning a foreign language. The author’s position that the active use of FL in mass media and on the Internet creates a favorable didactic and non-didactic situation is scientifically substantiated and argued. For a more detailed consideration of the features of the formation of the cognitive orientation of university students in the process of learning a foreign language using ICT, examples of the use of various online services, applications and applications, online games, etc., during seminar and practical classes on a foreign language (Emoji World, Voki, Flipgrid, Google Docs, Google Forms, Zoom, Hangouts, Cisco Webex, Skype, Tik-Tok, Viber, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, Miro.com, Bubble.us, Canva, PlayPosit, PowerPoint, Prezi, Slides, Movie Maker, ToonDoo, WhiteboardFox, Powtoon, Jamboard, Padlet, Talking Photos). The educational opportunities and didactic advantages of using the outlined online services in forming the cognitive orientation of university students in studying FL have been revealed. Authentic examples of tasks performed by university students during practical and seminar classes on FL are presented to form students’ cognitive orientation and increase the level of motivation to study FL. It has been proven that the use of ICT during the education of students of the University of FL contributes to the activation of the educational and cognitive activity of future specialists, the variety of didactic tools, taking into account different channels of information perception.
