Abstract

Deep understanding of what is read forms critical thinking and analytical skills, stimulates students to independent research. The article highlights the problems of developing the reading competence of 10th grade students based on the interpretation of Mykola Voronyi’s poetry “Infant”. The stages of work on the work are presented, including a preliminary acquaintance with the historical and cultural contexts, an analysis of the artistic means used by the author to understand the main ideas and the manifestation of the motives of poetry. It is emphasized that the reading activity is intensified on the condition that the student understands the word, deeply perceives it, and only then will he fully assimilate the literary text, find out the peculiarities of the individual understanding of the author’s concept of the artistic work, understand the emotional state of the image created by the writer, pass all this through his own value orientations. Emphasis is placed on the importance of integrating modern pedagogical technologies and interactive learning methods, such as discussions, group projects, and creative tasks. It is noted that the lexicographer, during the interpretation of a literary work, should form a competent reader who is able and ready to apply literary knowledge and skills to work with a literary text, is able to highlight the main points, draw conclusions, and predict events. Interactive learning methods such as group discussions, debates, discussions, project activities, game technologies are singled out, which will contribute to the activation of students’ reading activities, motivate them to read and involve them in actively comprehending what they have read. It was concluded that teaching a student to read meaningfully, to expand the range of reading competence is a priority task of the teacher, as it is a complex process that requires a systematic approach, various methodological techniques that contribute to the development of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis of information and constant improvement of pedagogical skills.
