Abstract
The article reviews scientific publications that cover the issue of forming independence in preschool children. In modern scientific thinking and regulatory documents, independence is seen as a quality of personality, and is considered a psychological condition for personal development and growth. To ensure the independence of children, it is important to create a developmental environment and choose the optimal pedagogical strategy of education. The historical aspects of the development of views on independence are analyzed. It is found that in Ukrainian pedagogical thinking over the past 100 years there have been different views on its place in the educational process. They were influenced by general pedagogical approaches to preschool education of preschool children. In the period of the Ukrainian SSR, independence was considered mainly in the context of education through work. Since Ukraine's independence, humanistic approaches to education have changed the vision of independence in the personal development of children. The ideas of the classics, M. Montessori, and S. Rusova became relevant. The child's activity became free, moving from the plane of education through work to a broader variety of activities. It has been proven that the expansion of the boundaries of cognition occurs under the condition of an individual's own autonomous actions, so the formation of independence in preschool children takes place in an accessible developmental environment and in a variety of activities. Children especially like productive activities (play, experimentation, artistic and productive, artistic and creative, etc.) Therefore, subject centers in preschool education institutions are created to encourage children’s independence. Artistic and productive activities allow children to use previously acquired experience and knowledge, plan and implement their own ideas, their vision of the environment, showing their independence and determination in achieving the goal. The article specifies the conditions that contribute to the formation of preschool children's independence in preschool educational institutions and in their families. The scheme-cards for independent creation of crafts from different materials for artistic design are proposed. The algorithm for creating a scheme-cards and recommendations for its implementation are presented.
