Abstract

The article highlights the problem of increasing the level of oral and written speech culture of a modern teacher. It is substantiated that the relevance of the problem under study is due to several key factors: the importance of speech culture in pedagogical activity; the problem of the presence of lexical errors; the need to improve speech competence; the influence of digital technologies, etc. Methodological tips are given for independent analysis of typical lexical errors and determining ways to eliminate them. The features that characterize the teacher's speech culture are identified, in particular: correctness; diversity; expressiveness; clarity; accuracy; normativity; purity; brevity; expediency; logic; simplicity; aesthetics; richness; relevance; specificity; practical orientation. It is emphasized that systematic work on speech culture will contribute to the improvement of a number of professional skills of a modern teacher: communication skills, pedagogical skills, emotional intelligence, organizational skills, critical thinking, digital literacy, etc. The lexical errors most often made by teachers are summarized and classified: inappropriate use of words; violation of lexical compatibility; verbosity (pleonasm); tautology; use of lexical dialectisms; calques from other languages (lexical Russianisms). Practice-oriented tasks and exercises for working on speech culture, a dictionary of lexical difficulties in word usage and spelling, and methodological recommendations for eliminating speech errors in professional communication are proposed. It is concluded that the teacher's high-quality speech contributes to an effective educational process, the formation of students' critical thinking and the development of their communicative competence, and systematic work on lexical errors contributes to increasing the teacher's professional competence, improving the quality of education and forming a high culture of speech.
