Abstract

The problem of preserving the people's own identity, values, culture, and traditions is becoming relevant in the modern world. The civic and historical educational field, introduced for study in elementary school, has significant potential for affirming the personal, social, and national identity of pupils. The objectives of its study identified three areas of identity formation in primary school, which are closely related to each other: personal, social, and national. The personal level of identity is aimed at forming the need to know oneself, one's capabilities, abilities, talents, and to perceive and realize oneself as a unique, unrepeatable individuality. To form the own identity of younger schoolchildren in the process of studying civic and historical educational subjects, it is important to direct the educational process towards: getting to know younger schoolchildren themselves, their capabilities, abilities, needs, desires, interests, values, virtues, identifying their own differences, uniqueness, which will be the basis for the formation of adequate self-esteem, self-worth, a sense of self-worth, and selfconfidence; recognizing the value of each schoolchild, respect, and a tolerant attitude towards the differences of others based on building relationships as personally oriented, equal, as cooperation, and co-creation of participants in the educational process; creating conditions for self-expression, self-realization, self-identification, and the manifestation of the uniqueness and uniqueness of each student through an atmosphere of emotional comfort, encouragement, motivation, stimulation, partnership, support for everyone, organization of active, creative activities, and situations of success; enriching the emotional and sensory experience of younger schoolchildren. It is advisable to organize play, project, research, creative, and volunteer activities, conduct morning meetings, excursions, expeditions, visit museums, read and discuss works of art that evoke emotions and feelings, consider problem situations, perform value-oriented tasks, and engage in exercises for selfknowledge, self-esteem, and self-development.
